What is Station?
In GrubCenter, a Station refers to a specific service or preparation point within a restaurant, kitchen, or cloud kitchen setup. The Station could be a grubKDS or grubKDS Master application.
Stations help organize and route orders efficiently by defining where and how different parts of an order should be prepared or processed.
Stations are particularly useful in environments with multiple food concepts, brands, or preparation zones, such as grill stations, dessert counters, beverage sections, or packaging areas.
Stations can be segregated on two levels: Brand Level and Menu Item Level.
- Brand Level Stations: Enable multiple brands operating under the same station or multiple stations.
- Menu Item Level Stations: In some operations, especially when multiple brands share common menu items, you can configure Menu Item Level Stations. This allows specific items, regardless of which brand they belong to, to be routed to a shared station for preparation.
- For example:
If both Brand A and Brand B offer the same “French Fries” item, and it’s always prepared at the same fryer station, you can assign a routing label to that item.
This ensures it’s consistently directed to the correct station, regardless of the brand.
